Black vintage silk Kuro Tomesode Kimono, adorned with the Tsuru Kawa motif, featuring cranes on a river and golden pine trees
Out of stock
This black silk vintage Kuro Tomesode Kimono is adorned with delicate motifs depicting cranes on a river, surrounded by pine trees and flowers in shades of orange, yellow, and gold. The white lining is tinged with yellow due to the shadow of the patterns from exposure to the sun. A small stain at the bottom of the lining inside the kimono does not affect its outer appearance. Unique piece.
The Kuro Tomesode is a specific type of Japanese kimono. “Kuro” means “black” in Japanese, and “Tomesode” refers to a formal kimono primarily worn by married women on special occasions.
The Kuro Tomesode stands out with its predominantly black color and elegant design. It is often adorned with intricate patterns and delicate embroideries, typically located at the bottom of the kimono. The motifs used on the Kuro Tomesode can vary, but they are often symbolic and carry deep meaning. For example, floral, bird, or landscape motifs may represent wishes for happiness, prosperity, or conjugal love.
Tomesode is a type of Japanese traditional clothing and is the highest-ranked formal dress worn by married women. Within the hierarchy of kimonos, the tomesode is the most formal and equivalent to Western evening wear.
It could be that from one screen to another the colors are different on some products.
To optimise the cleaning of your fabrics, it is recommended to use a mild, hypoallergenic detergent. Avoid harsh detergents that can damage fabric fibres and cause discolouration or premature wear.
Brocades, for example, are delicate and intricate fabrics that require special care when cleaning. It is recommended, if you can, to have them professionally dry cleaned to avoid damage to the fragile woven threads. This is the best way to clean these fabrics.
